EU imposes sanctions on Russian aircraft makers, financial service

BRUSSELS, Dec 19 (PRIME) -- The new E.U. sanctions cover several Russian aircraft producers, Alfa Insurance and the Federal Financial Monitoring Service among the 140 people and organizations on the expanded blacklist, the E.U. Journal said late on Monday.

Ilyushin Aviation Complex, Tupolev, the Kazan Helicopter plant and several other aircraft producers were put on the list.

The blacklist also includes the Alabuga special economic zone, arms producers the Imperial Tula Arms Plant, the Arzamas Instrument-Building Plant, JSC Kuznetsov, Sea Underwater Weapon – Gidropribor.

The E.U. said that the package envisages an asset freeze of more Russian individuals, import restrictions on non-industrial diamonds, mined, processed, or produced in Russia, a ban on imports of raw materials for steel production, processed aluminum products and other metal goods, and additional export restrictions on dual-use and advanced technological and industrial goods worth 2.3 billion euros per year.

The E.U. exempted the Sakhalin-2 project from the price ceiling mechanism until June 28, 2024 in order to support energy security of Japan.

Diamonds for personal use and values of official cultural exchange with Russia were also excluded from the sanctions.

The cars that arrived to the E.U. from Russia as of Tuesday are allowed to be re-registered in Europe.
